Over the past few weeks, 1st Moxby Moor Scout Group has had a very active term filled with outdoor adventures, practical activities, and community events across Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts.
Beavers celebrated pancake-making and will finish the term with an Easter egg hunt. Later in the year they will mark the 40th anniversary of Beavers with a special teddy bears’ picnic after Easter.
Cubs attended a camp at Hesley Woods, took part in outdoor activities, made pizzas together, and held a toy sale that raised money for several charities. Upcoming activities include learning about the environment, Mother’s Day crafts, a church visit to learn about Lent and Easter, and outdoor skills such as tent pitching.
Scouts completed a challenging night hike from Coxwold to Byland Abbey in difficult weather, demonstrating teamwork and navigation skills. They also visited Beamish Museum for an overnight stay and will spend the rest of the term building and racing Pinewood Derby cars.
Overall, the group has been developing confidence, teamwork, resilience, and practical skills through a wide variety of fun and challenging activities.
